Your Kennebunkport fishing trip is as close as the riverbank outside your Harborfront Bungalow when you stay at the Yachtsman Hotel & Marina Club. That’s right: From June through September, you can try your luck fishing for schoolie bass with light tackle or a fly rod right from our shores on the Kennebunk River or from a canoe, available free to guests. There is excellent trout fishing upriver, too. But if you’re interested in chasing larger marine species, set sail on an unforgettable Atlantic voyage with our favorite deep sea fishing charter service or with the Kennebunkport area’s only whale watch tour company.

Striker Charters

Jubilation awaits if you land one of Maine’s prized game fish: stripers, bluefish, giant bluefin tuna, haddock, sharks, cod. Master Captains and long-time fishing buddies Kevin Lord and Ben Welch know where the odds are highest you’ll find them, and when you book a saltwater fishing charter, they’ll take you out into the blue Atlantic and show you the ropes. All of the gear you need is provided, and our concierge can hook you up with a hearty lunch and your favorite Maine craft brew to bring on your trip. You’ll see dazzling sights that will stir your sense of wonder even if you don’t feel a tug on your line.

First Chance Whale Watch

Larger than a moose. More majestic than, well… pretty much any other creature on earth. Whales feed just about 20 miles out to sea from Kennebunkport’s harbor, and you can venture out to their “banquet hall” aboard First Chance Whale Watch’s 87-foot observation vessel. Captain Gary knows where the finbacks, humpbacks and minke whales perform their water ballet, and you may even spy rare and endangered blue or right whales during your 4-1/2-hour boat trip. These memorable whale watch cruises depart Memorial Day weekend through Columbus Day. Purchase light fare, snacks and beverages from the galley on board, or ask the Yachtsman Hotel & Marina Club’s concierge to arrange a picnic for you to enjoy on the boat.
